The Mary Litynski Award recognizing lifetime achievement for making the Internet safer has been awarded by the Messaging Malware Mobile Anti-Abuse Working Group (M3AAWG) Troy Hunt, founder of Have I Been Pwned. Hunt was honored at the group's 54th general meeting. Have I Been Pwned allows site visitors to check whether their email has been part of a data breach. He created the free service in 2013 after working on what was the largest data breach at that time. The site tracks hundreds of breaches and works to educate consumers about the risks of simple or poorly constructed passwords.
The site also helps inform consumers about the effects of data breaches, the collection of personal information and how it's used and how to protect themselves. To date, the site reports that 11,746,416,911 records have been compromised. More info on the service and links to social channels is available at https://www.troyhunt.com. @M3AAWG news release at https://bit.ly/35fgrDW.
Congratulations Troy Hunt and to all the members of our community for the work we do.
